PATENT ENGINEER
We are looking for a Patent
Engineer to join the Industrial Property Research team at our Ecully site.
As a Patent Engineer,
your main missions will be to:
Contribute towards
product launches by minimising the risk of incrimination for counterfeiting,
which involves a preliminary study of freedom of exploitation;
Protect Groupe SEB
innovations in order to retain a competitive advantage, by carrying out the
following steps:
- Clarify requests from internal clients, highlight the technical problem solved by the innovation, demonstrate the triple criteria for patenting potential;
- Write up requests in such a way as to expand the scope of the invention as much as possible. These must conform with INPI (France), EPO (Europe) and WIPO (world) regulations;
- Ensure the smooth operation of the entire procedure and the various stages leading up to obtaining the patent;
- Manage the budget for the portfolio of patents in your charge.
Defend the patent in
the event of opposition;
Assess declarations
of presumed counterfeits from competitors by carrying out an in-depth
comparison of their product’s features in relation to the claims made in the
patents for the corresponding Group products;
Decide on the
follow-up procedure for accusations of counterfeiting formulated by
competitors, by using an in-depth analysis of the validity of their patents and
working alongside a legal expert for Groupe SEB;
Validate the
Industrial Property clauses in partnership, licensing contracts etc., working
alongside the Legal Department;
Get involved in
analysing the IP monitoring shared with R&D.
You have completed a technical degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Electrical / IT Engineering or similar, and you also have a specialist legal qualification: CEIPI (essential), it would help if you are preparing for the European Patent Attorney qualification.
You have worked in an industrial environment or consultancy for at least three years.
You are curious and passionate about innovation.
You have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
